Middle-Earth Reimagined: Ian McKellen Hints at Two-Part Gollum Film Adventure

Recently, excitement has been reignited regarding the Lord of the Rings franchise, as Ian McKellen and Orlando Bloom have shown eagerness to re-enter this beloved cinematic realm. Although there is no official confirmation yet about their participation in the upcoming movie series, which is currently under development, there are notable figures involved. Andy Serkis is at the helm as director of the first installment titled The Hunt for Gollum, while Peter Jackson is returning as producer. This new film aims to serve "functions as an initial basis for a series that" delves deeper into the rich lore of Middle-Earth.

Previously, details surrounding this project and the entire series have been quite limited. However, Ian McKellen recently offered some fascinating observations while attending an event on the British morning show, This Morning, hinting that the film might actually consist of multiple installments. He mentioned getting a call about the films, indicating they would primarily focus on Gollum, with Andy Serkis directing and a script anticipated early next year, after which he would decide on his involvement.

He revealed further that he had been informed the project could span two films, laughingly noting that he probably shouldn't be divulging this information. While he hasn’t seen the script or learned filming details yet, his comments suggest that splitting the narrative may be a consideration for the team. Despite the mixed reception of the Hobbit trilogy, it appears Peter Jackson remains committed to exploring stories through multiple films.
